Tax Consumption, Take More Time Off and Buy Less Shit

This whole global warming thing is just out of hand and it's going to get worse. A lot worse. I mean if you think it's bad now, there are still a lot of people in the developing world who are just waiting for the day they get rich enough to consume like Americans.

But we Americans are the biggest consumer by far so I have four proposals for immediate implementation to reduce consumption:
1) Add two weeks worth of national holidays to the US calendar. We need to work less so we will have less income to waste.
2) Re-instate the luxury tax (for high-price items like yachts, expensive cars, etc.)
3) Create a national sales tax (excepting food staples) and national energy tax. These are regressive and anti-growth taxes so they can be counter-balanced by removing payroll taxes on lower income jobs.
4) Create a national tax on advertisements.
